Description de la mission

Operating in 14 countries around the world, VINCI Highways is a leading concessions company and provider of road transport services. Working with local partners, VINCI Highways designs, finances, builds and operates 3,564 km of roads to the highest international safety and quality standards.


We are looking for the Technical Director of our Project Company for the Nairobi Nakuru Mau Summit PPP project, in Kenya, our first project in Africa. The project consist in in the construction of a 175 km highway between Rironi at the East of Nairobi, to Mau Summit and the rehabilitation of a 58 km section between Rironi and Naivasha.

For this project, VINCI has set up a Project Company with the investment fund Meridiam. As part of the Project Company team based in Nairobi, you will be the first point of contact of the construction joint-venture, associating VINCI Construction entities and you will also represent the Project Company in front of the client, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), for all technical aspects. In this role you will therefore be responsible for managing and coordinating the construction of this highway, in order to prepare the future operation.

In particular, you will be responsible for:

-          Lead all technical reviews, meetings with the construction company, with the support of the technical department.

-          Contribute to the finalization of the Environmental and Social Impact studies,

-          Review works-related studies to ascertain compliance with construction rules, contractual commitments and future operation and maintenance programs,

-          Establish VINCI Concessions’ position and upholds its technical decisions during project design and construction,

-          Supervise work progress, review and analyze construction schedule and the construction company’s budget,

-          Manage a team of engineers, technicians or advisors for specific expertise

-          Settle technical or business issues resulting from project execution,

-          Represent the company among other organizations, in keeping with the back-to back principle of the construction and operating companies,

-          Ensure the company’s Quality, Environment and Safety system is running smoothly,

-          Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and concession company requirements.


As Chief Technical Officer, you will report directly to the CEO of the Project Company.


Civil Engineer with a minimum of 8/10 years of operational experience in construction or infrastructure operations and prior work experience in project management.

Your job-related skills:

-          General understanding of the financial and business issues associated with a PPP project during construction and operation phases,

-          General understanding of a PPP contractual structure during construction and operation phases,

-          In-depth understanding of the QHSE and sustainable Development issues,

-          Ability to manage infrastructures maintenance policy implementation,

-          Ability to build good working relationships with stakeholders,

-          Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to focus when multiple priorities demand attention is a must.

-          Curious, positive, “can-do” and transparent attitude is very critical for success

-          Assertive yet open, thoughtful, respectful, perseverant and easy to work with; Unafraid to take charge, ask questions,

-          Full professional proficiency in English (Level C1 minimum),

-          Knowledge of an additional language (Spanish) is a plus.
